With Mother’s Day around the corner, we wanted to discuss one of Urban Massage’s services – the prenatal massage! Prenatal massages benefits both expectant mother and growing baby. Massages during pregnancy ensures relief from muscle cramps and the body adapting to growth. The skin is hydrated which enhances pliability. This encourages elasticity in the skin, which would help with stretch marks during the growth of the baby. The expectant mother is relieved of stress, the baby is relaxed.
We offer two types of bolstering with our prenatal services.
- A bolstering pillow, with a cut out for the baby bump to rest. The client can lay face down.
2. A side lying position. Client is laying on their side with bolstering equipment to prop one leg up and over. Client will have one pillow to hold on to, and the head is supported underneath.
If you are pregnant and are thinking about getting a massage, please give us a call at 616-843-0730 to get yours scheduled! Also, it is important to inform your therapist if you are pregnant. If you are in your first trimester and still feel that you can lay in your stomach, you still must book a prenatal. This is to ensure your safety, and the safety of the baby. We also want to make sure that our therapist are using products that are friendly to your body, thats why it’s necessary to let your therapist know.
